Those against Nat’l Health Ins.: Is it fine with you that private ins. can just drop anybody they want?

topink questioned:
Like if you’d cost them too much or have a pre-existing condition? They often only approve the cheapest remedies, too. Reckon you have choices? Not if you have health problems. But that’s not vital to you, is it?

That undermines the health providers if everyone waited until they had a probelm to start paying into the system. There would be no money to help people with.

  • MP US Army says:

That’s because you can’t buy health Insurance in this country anymore. The government requires it to be a “health payment plot”.

The government should stay out of it. So you can make a contract with a company to cover what ever you want and they will tell you what it will cost, like we do with car insurance.

Government is the problem not the answer.

I live in the UK & the US but was born in the states so I have lived in both national healthcare and insurance provided healthcare.

Beleive me when I say they do the cheapest and simplest care in national healthcare too.

At least you are informed enough to not call it free healthcare.

There are excellent and terrible for both types. The problem you run into with implimenting socialized healthcare in the states are these.

The taxes to cover such a program would be outragous. The people who are not rich but working would feel the pinch the most making more people poor through taxation. They can barely afford insurance for their family now they will be paying for a bunch of other people who dont work through taxes.

the largest problem is this. What is the largest complain on here?! It is how the government messes up all the programs they are currently running. No one is pleased with anything they do yet somehow they want them to be in charge of such a massive expensive program and they somehow reckon they wont ***** it up beyond all reason.

The goverment being in charge of our nations health would scare the hell out of me.

The claims of the cost canidates say they can provide it at is so, so low. It will cost 20 times more than what they are saying it will. why becuase everthing the goverment does cost more than what a private company can do it at.

There are 20 or 30 other reasons not to do it but I am not going to type that much.

National healthcare will just enable more people to do nothing. People complain about bush vetoing the child healthcare bill becuase so many children are without healthcare but The current childrens healthcare program that is in place really covers 6 million children that are not insured but are elligible for the current program but the parent have failed to enroll them.

You can lead a horse to water as they say. The same goes with work and jobs. There are enough jobs that anyone who wants to work can. Some people find it simpler to just collect government checks and why not if we just give them to them month after month. this would be just another hand out for them.

There are some that need help and if the abuse of the system wasnt so exploited they could get it.

Don’t like it, don’t have any.

    Whining crybabies want everything free.

Get your own insurance, do without, or go to Canada.

    Your choice.

There is a downside to Everything. I received an e-mail from a gentleman in Canada. He told the “real deal” about their national healthcare system. Believe me, when I was done reading, it was nothing I was too keen to vote for. It always comes down to Money. And don’t reckon for a second, the government is any more willing to spend money on expensive treatments than an HMO. And where is all this money for a national health care system going to come from? HMO’s gain it through premiums-Government will gain it through what else – more taxes. Then the government will, as usual, hire know nothing people to do useless jobs associated with the “national health care” plot and grossly overpay them! It is a vicious circle. And the trail always leads back to the almighty dollar!

  • uncle frosty says:

If it is for a pre-existing condition it is not insurance.

You have pointed out a few problems with the current system.
Do you realize that your solution exacerbates some of those problems?

I have an insurance plot that cannot be dropped.

There is scarcity in the world even in the U.S. We must sacrifice something to get something else. If you have a new car or a cell phone or cable or mp3 player don’t tell me you can’t afford insurance. I remind you that the average income for the U.S. is higher than nearly all of western europe and canada. Furthermore when measured by consumption a poor person in the U.S. is better off than a middle income person in western Europe.

The point is maybe people should give up some of their consumption and quit trying to get someone else to pay for their needs.

  • thelemite33 says:

Well, Jeff really nailed this one. The only thing that I will add is that it is not the government’s responsibility to provide your healthcare for you. It’s YOURS!! Get over it.

  • G T says:

Get an education (and not one from a communist learning center like a San Francisco area college where they teach you that government owes you a life), get a excellent job and stop expecting people that really work pay your way. If you want a marxist third world medical system, I suggest that you renounce your USA citizenship and go to the “Workers Paradise” in Cuba. You’ll get the third world medical technology that you deserve. I ALREADY pay a lot for my own medical coverage and you need to do it yourself, and n case you’re wondering…… I can’t afford to pay for bone idle liberals that won’t help themselves, I already paid taxes to help pay for schooling that apparently you didn’t take advantage of.

  • Bullfrog21 says:

Well I guess we see the problem. Everyone has their own opinion and no one has a reasonable suggestion for the answer.

Yet the reasonable answer is so simple. Too terrible the politicians and most of the people on answers who apparently represent the majority of Americans will never find it.

They say even a blind pig finds a truffle now and then. Don’t hold your breath for America to find the answer to this one.

  • jeeper_peeper321 says:

So why not fix the system we have now ?

Instead of completely doing away with it, and starting a new system from scratch.

Plus, no proponets of national health care, can tell anyone, what it would cost.

Or how it would be funded.

Did you know, most of the people without health insurance, work for small business ?

Did you know, it is illegal, for small business’s, to join together, to buy health insurance at discount rates ?

Its also illegal for individual citizens, to ban together to buy health insurance.

So maybe if we changed those laws, the problem would go away.

Insteead of dreamin about some pie in the sky, health care system, that no one, who says they want it, can ever tell anyone how much it would cost.

insurance companies treat people like cars. have too many tickets, accidents, too young, too ancient? sorry our underwriters have chose that we can no longer insure you. the average guy gets screwed. and the government lets them. protection isn’t a handout. it is a right

that sounds to me like the credo of the republican neo con party. they claim that we must have a small government. people are supposed to take of ourselves, and not expect handouts from the government.

well, the government is supposed to protect me and my fellow citizens from unscrupulous treatment of any kind. by that rationale, we don’t need osha, poison control, faa, fema, or any government agency.

no traffic lights. we wouldn’t drive because there would be no roads. no police, carry a huge gun. grow your own food or buy it from someone you trust. you can keep going on.

i want my government to protect me. they do it with the military. we should do away with the present administration since they have bungled the war, huge budget deficits, wasted lives. but to you guys, it can’t provide medical care.

why don’t we make the government accountable to us? doesn’t monkey boy and his circus work for us. make them do it right. stop worrying about other countries and take care of our own people.

that tax money is mine too. when it gets spent on some republican backed plot, its fantastic. really do what it is supposed to do, and its a huge social program for freeloaders.

less protection, more screwing the middle class. some people are blind and will never see the truth.

    excellent question, tom.
